Swinging In The Driftless

The Snowcone on the swing was killer this day.

Check out this bad boy and the scarface.

Though not the 4 # rainbow that bait and switched me, this big wild brown that rose to take the caddis on the swing was the fish of the day, of a really great day.

This gem came from BEC along the Wolf Run Trail.

Lloyd

So pleased to catch two little ones out of the gate on grey ND.  Moved up into shallow riffles and missed all of em on Peacock ND. All of them1  Small fish, but nice close takes, just couldn't hook them, just as well really.

Fished along the inside edge of this cliff, very nice approach.  Missed one, nothing caught on ND's and IMT.  Humh...

At 11 am it warmed just a scoach.  I caught 1 on a cranefly larva after seeing an adult CF.  Tried PT's , ND in black, all OK nothing great, and frankly I not fishing all that well - some tight little spots gave me fits.  Finally got this nice pounder at 11:30 am and things began to click.  caught several more on the grey ND that took this one.  Fish had no qualms in the riffles today.

Wrap up at the foot of the bridge where 12" browns were taking 16/18 caddis.  I caught them on #10 Klinkhamer.  It is just a killer fly.  It triggers fish.  Logically they should not have eaten this, but they really do.  Several fat, strong good fish in a shallow riffle coming after that fly was a treat to wrap up the morning.  I am grateful.
